Our Story
It started with a simple idea: every young person deserves the opportunity to thrive in a digital world.
In 2020, in Badagry, Lagos State, Nigeria, David Onilude and his friends Kazeem, Michael, and Jacob founded Tech Now Global as a youth-led nonprofit with a clear mission: to bridge the digital divide and make digital literacy accessible to more people.
What began as a digital literacy class for 300 people has grown into a movement reaching more than 30,000 young people across 100+ schools and 32 communities.
Six years later, our commitment remains the same. We exist to ensure that young people are not merely spectators in a rapidly changing world, but active participants equipped to shape its future.
How It Started
Our journey began in Badagry with a recognition that access to digital knowledge could open doors to education, employment, innovation and new possibilities.
In 2020, we took our first step by organising a digital literacy class for 300 people. It was a modest beginning, but it represented something much bigger: a belief that equipping people with digital skills could change the trajectory of their lives.
That first class laid the foundation for what Tech Now Global would become.
We saw an opportunity to take digital learning beyond a single classroom, reach more communities and create experiences that would help young people develop the skills and confidence to navigate an increasingly digital society.
Growing Beyond the Classroom
As our work evolved, so did our approach.
We expanded beyond standalone digital literacy classes, developing programmes that bring technology education directly to schools, introduce young people to new skills and create opportunities for them to turn ideas into action.
From classroom engagement to innovation programmes and opportunities for personal development, our work reflects a broader understanding of what young people need to thrive.
Today, Tech Now Global has reached more than 30,000 young people in over 100 schools across 32 communities.
These numbers represent more than reach. They represent young people gaining exposure to technology, discovering new possibilities and taking steps towards futures that may once have seemed out of reach.
Six Years of Progress. One Continuing Mission.
From our first digital literacy class in Badagry to reaching more than 30,000 young people, our journey has been shaped by a commitment to making opportunities more accessible.
We have grown in reach, expanded our programmes and continued to explore ways of connecting young people with digital skills, innovation and opportunities for growth.
Yet the purpose behind our work has not changed.
We believe that where a young person starts should not determine how far they can go. We believe that schools can be places where innovation begins, communities can become centres of opportunity, and young people can develop the confidence to create solutions to the challenges around them.
Our progress so far is an important milestone, but it is not the destination.
There are still young people to reach, schools to engage, ideas to nurture and opportunities to unlock.
